Most alcoholic drinks fall into the category of fruit-based drinks. Red wine is perhaps the most well known form of alcoholic drink. Most people choose red wine for its high concentration of antioxidants. However, a lot of people who want to lose weight also choose white wine for the same reason, because white wine contains a very low amount of alcohol and much higher amounts of sugar. It is believed that the calorie intake is reduced in white wine compared to red wine.

Water is another popular and widely consumed drink. Everyone should try to drink water every day. However, if you are a person who wants to lose weight, water should be consumed in moderation, because too much consumption of water can be harmful for your body. A wide range of water consumptions are recommended, depending on individual need. Fried or oily foods and high calorie or fatty foods should be consumed in moderation as well.

Non-alcoholic drinks are becoming more popular as they provide many benefits such as: they reduce the risk of developing health conditions like cancer and diabetes by reducing the absorption of glucose in the intestines; they also reduce the risk of heart diseases by increasing the amount of HDL cholesterol that circulates in the bloodstream. Non-alcoholic drinks are also available for those who do not like the taste of alcohol. Many people prefer lemonade or green tea over traditional alcohol-based cocktails. Juice bars are a trend nowadays, where various drinks can be consumed in one sitting. One can get a wide range of choices.

Coffee is a popular and common drink, but there are different types of coffee based on the region. Espresso is derived from the famous Arraba Coffee Mill in Spain while Turkish Coffee is the finest in the world. A wide range of coffee consumption is recommended, depending on individual preference. Green tea is another very popular non-alcoholic drink made from the leaves of the camellia sinensis plant.

Although there are many more drinks consumed in the human culture and with the evolution of technology, one thing has remained constant – alcoholic beverages are consumed as a social activity. These social activities include parties, drinking contests, bachelorette and bachelor parties, birthday parties and sporting events, especially sports. These events tend to involve large amount of alcohol consumption, which is not good for our body systems.
