To survive, a human being must eat food to survive. Since food is the only substance capable of providing nutrition to an individual, it is used by all body builders equally. The diet of an individual greatly impacts his physical well-being. Healthy food is any material consumed with the aim of providing nutritional support to an organism. The main constituents of healthy food are carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, minerals, and fat. Carbohydrates include glucose, starchy carbohydrates (breads and pasta) and simple carbohydrates (sweets, desserts, etc.). Protein is the most important component of healthy food, with other important components including fats, carbohydrates, minerals, and vitamins.

Real food may also consist of fiber, fats, vitamins, minerals, and some dietary fibre. Real foods that are suitable for weight gain include meat, fish, poultry, legumes, vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, and whole grains. The recommended dietary intake of these real foods is about 45% of daily calorie intake. Therefore, real foods may not be completely eliminated from the diet, but they should definitely be included in it in a significant way.

When looking for additional nourishment for the body, you must take into account the combination of different food types. The three food groups, which constitute the basis of a balanced diet, consist of protein, carbohydrate, and unsaturated fat. In order to meet the recommended daily allowance of each group, each of these food groups should comprise of at least one, two, and three food groups. Each food group has its own importance within the diet, so the combinations of the food should be carefully chosen.

The combination of carbohydrate, protein, unsaturated fat, and vegetable fiber is the perfect food for gaining the extra nourishment you need, without sacrificing the quality and taste of your food. Carbohydrates provide the bulk and energy for the body, while protein provides the necessary building blocks of muscles and essential vitamins and minerals. Unsaturated fat provides the necessary fat that gives you the right amount of energy, without increasing the caloric intake.

Vegetable protein is often overlooked as an important food source, but its benefits go far beyond mere muscle building. It is also a very good source of vital nutrients such as beta-carotene and other carotenoids, vitamin A, vitamin B-complex, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and folic acid. It also contains all of the above nutrients plus many more, which makes it a very good choice as a major food source. If you want to achieve good health, then a balanced diet full of nutrient-rich food is a must.
